Signs of Dementia

Our Board of Trustees

We have a dedicated Board of Trustees who kindly volunteer their time to support and manage our charity.

Ronnie Barnes
Chair

I have been a trustee and chair of Braid Health and Wellbeing for over 8 years.

I had previously a 41 year career in local authority social work services working for Highland, Central and Lothian authorities during that time.

Latterly, I was a development officer for older people’s services and worked closely with the then Braid House as their link officer.

I hope that my previous experience of public services, with an inside track on the commissioning and development of services, helps to shape our business plans and our own developments.

This as we face up to making our charity fit for the future and working towards developing contemporary services which can assist not only older people but other vulnerable groups in the community.

Jonathan Moore
Secretary

I joined the Board of Trustees in August 2019 to bring specific IT knowledge and experience to the Board. Since then, I’ve served for a period as Vice Chair and latterly taken on the role of Company Secretary.

I bring over 20 years of experience serving several local charities – from shaking cans, applying for charitable status, stewarding community events and serving on committees.

Clare Gard
Board Member

The pandemic was a very unsettling period of time for everyone and I decided that I wanted to give something back to the community and share some of my skills and knowledge. I was delighted when an opportunity to join the Board at Braid Health and Wellbeing became available almost 18 months ago. I have worked in the field of HR for almost 15 years and enjoy supporting and developing people to see them reach their full potential. I have a very strong process background and I ask lots of questions to ensure that everyone understands the bigger picture.

Heather Clark
Board member

I am an enthusiastic, genuine and influential individual with over 12 years of experience in financial services. I have excellent interpersonal skills which, have been obtained from having to liaise and co-ordinate with all levels including C-Suite management, senior leadership teams, internal/external stakeholders and also direct line reports. I am passionate about development and growing relationships whilst driving inclusion and diversity. I believe everyone should have the same access to support regardless of background and love the work that Braid Health and Wellbeing promotes in supporting elderly, vulnerable and sometimes isolated individuals.

Christina Mellon
Board Member

I applied to Braid Health and Wellbeing as I wanted to give something back by making a difference to local and older people within my local community.

Over the years I have gained experience from working in all aspects of Human Resources both within the private and public sectors. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. I have worked at various organisations including the UK, HR Director and sitting on the Board of Directors for Menzies Distribution Ltd and the HR Director for the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service, responsible for a large team based throughout Scotland.

Not only experienced in H.R, but I also have responsibility and experience in payroll, health and safety, organisational change and development together with recruitment learning and development. From the extensive knowledge, experience and skills gained, I wanted to share these with Braid Health and Wellbeing to help grow and develop the Charity further.

Review

“My son Paul attended the dark room today and we were met with friendly faces. We were taken round to the room by Tasha and my first impressions of the centre was that it had a lovely welcoming feel”. Paul was really looking forward to using the sensory room and indeed it didnt disappoint. Paul and his PA really enjoyed the experience and Paul is really looking forward to coming back. He couldnt wait to tell his dad all about it and became very animated when chatting about it. As a parent I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and standards in the centre. I will be recommending the room to our friends whos sons/daughters may benefit from the rooms. Could I also add the rooms are ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. The staff I met today were lovely”
