Signs of Dementia

Our Board of Trustees

We have a dedicated Board of Trustees who kindly volunteer their time to support and manage our charity.

Anne Forrester
Chair of Board

I joined the Board of Directors in January 2025, bringing with me extensive experience and a strong commitment to supporting older adults. For over two decades, I served as a Registered Manager in the health and social care sector, during which time I experienced many developments in the delivery of Day Care Services. I have also managed other care organisations and am currently employed within the housing and support services sector. In addition, I have served on the boards of various voluntary organisations.

Throughout my career, I have found great fulfilment in making a positive impact on the lives of older people, consistently working to create environments that are safe, supportive, and enriching. Volunteering remains an important part of my life, and I look forward to continuing my contribution through board involvement.

Having retired after 43 years nursing in the NHS, I was looking for opportunities to
volunteer my time and experience within my community. Therefore, I was delighted when I was appointed to the Board of Braid Health and Wellbeing.
A large part of my career was as a Charge Nurse and Manager in a variety of
different wards and departments caring for older people. I chose this specialty, when most did not, as I was passionate about older people having a high standard of care, equal opportunities and fulfilling lives like every other age group and specialty.
Throughout my career I have gained extensive relevant experience, skills and
knowledge and I am very comfortable communicating and negotiating with external agencies, staff at all levels, clients and relatives.
These qualities are very beneficial in my role, helping to support my Board
colleagues and the staff with the strategic and operational challenges we face.

Treasurer

I am an enthusiastic, genuine and influential individual with over 25 years of experience in IT industry. I have excellent interpersonal skills which, have been obtained from having to liaise and co-ordinate with all levels including senior leadership teams, internal/external stakeholders and also direct line reports. I am passionate about development and growing relationships whilst driving inclusion and diversity. I believe everyone should have the same access to support regardless of background and love the work that Braid Health and Wellbeing promotes in supporting elderly, vulnerable and sometimes isolated individuals.

Review

“My son Paul attended the dark room today and we were met with friendly faces. We were taken round to the room by Tasha and my first impressions of the centre was that it had a lovely welcoming feel”. Paul was really looking forward to using the sensory room and indeed it didnt disappoint. Paul and his PA really enjoyed the experience and Paul is really looking forward to coming back. He couldnt wait to tell his dad all about it and became very animated when chatting about it. As a parent I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and standards in the centre. I will be recommending the room to our friends whos sons/daughters may benefit from the rooms. Could I also add the rooms are ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. The staff I met today were lovely”
